The Silver Bowl: Jacksons of Tartaraghan, Co. Armagh

This family tree focusses on the JACKSONs who lived in the Parish of Tartaraghan and who first settled at Coosh in the early 1600s, in the townland of Ballynarry. Several members of this family emigrated to America, Australia and Canada. My focus here has been on the ones who stayed in Ireland. One person of interest - specially to Americans - is the relationship to this family to Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson, so I included his part of the family tree.

Interestingly, the vast extent of the original ancestral lands of the Ballynary Jacksons immediately becomes apparent to even the most casual observer of a current Ordnance Survey map of the Tartaraghan and Milltown areas when s/he sees how the adjoining town lands of Ballynarry, Parish Tartaraghan, Barony Oneilland West, Co Armagh, Clonmacate and Derrylard formed the respective apexes of a large almost isosceles triangle. All the land within that triangle was originally mainlined Jackson land. The fact that the family were members of the Established Church had again paid rich dividends p33.
