The question remains – who were the ancestors of this William JACKSON? It is possible that they were Presbyterian in a previous generation. The Ballymote Presbyterian church paired with the Presbyterian church of the Town of Sligo. That church had begun in 1695 with ministers from congregations in Antrim and Londonderry (where there are many possibilities for JACKSON ancestors). Of particular interest with respect to a possible JACKSON-Co. Sligo connection is the Rev. Luke ASHE (1705-1742). His sister Sarah married John JACKSON. They had 15 children, 11 of whom have no known fore-names (They came from an ASHE family history), and a connection to Sligo would not be unlikely. SEE: Jacksons of Tobermore.
