Between Elizabeth GUNNING [1] of Armagh, Co. Armagh spinster of the first part, Catherine [2] OLIVER of Armagh aforesaid widow executrix of Joseph OLIVER [3] late of Ballymore [4] [sic – I suspect this should be Tullymore]in the Co. Armagh, Gent deceased of the second part & Phillip KEENAN [5] of Armagh, Co. Armagh, Hotel keeper (then some confusing legal language where it seems that Elizabeth GUNNING possibly with help from Catherine OLIVER) sold to Philip KEENAN land formerly in the possession of David OLIVER [6] deceased in townland of Derryhaw [7] , Parish of Tynan (it seems the land was mortgaged to some extent) refers to 1804 April 20 lease [8] . Witness Jacob BARRETT [9] & John McKEE [10] both Gents of Armagh.

[1] Elizabeth GUNNING of Armagh, Co. Armagh spinster

[2] Catherine OLIVER (abt 1791-1866) of Armagh aforesaid widow executrix of Joseph OLIVER late of Ballymore [sic – I suspect this should be Tullymore] in the Co. Armagh, Gent deceased

[3] Joseph OLIVER of Tullymore Co. Armagh Gent. He was likely the son of David OLIVER of Ballyrea and the husband of Jane HAMILTON as well as the husband of Catherine (last name unknown) and father of John Eliot OLIVER (1831-1850). He lived from 1764-1837 and was a linen draper with a house substantial enough to be included along with five other houses in Lewis’s description of Co. Armagh in A Topographical Dictionary of Ireland as a “principal seat”.

[4] Ballymore [sic – I suspect this should be Tullymore, Parish of Armagh] in the Co. Armagh

[5] Phillip KEENAN of Armagh, Co. Armagh, Hotel keeper

[6] David OLIVER. This is probably the father of Joseph OLIVER. He would have lived 1725-1806 and lived primarily at Ballyrea, Co. Armagh.

[7] Derryhaw, Parish of Tynan, Co. Armagh.

[8] 1804 April 20 lease. I need to find this. I have the 1804 October 31st marriage agreement that refers to Derryhaw.

[9] Jacob BARRETT, gent of Armagh. NOTE: BARRETT connections are worth pursuing (ie Turner BARRETT, Isabella BARRETT …).

[10] John McKEE, gent of Armagh
