Indenture of Assignment of Lease Dated 20 Aug 1722
John Usher[1], City of Dublin, Esq, William Jackson[2], Cleric? Clerk? Executor of Will of Rt Rev Dr. William Moreton[3] late Lord Bishop of Meath deceased, Dame Mary Jones[4], widow Relict and Residuary Legatee of Rt Rev Dr. William Moreton late Lord Bishop of Meath deceased, of the first part, Edmund Schuldham[5], City of Dublin, Gent, of the second part.
Reciting that William Barton[6] of Thomastown[7], County Louth, Esq, by indenture of lease dated 2 Apr 1701 demised to Rt Rev Dr. William Moreton late Lord Bishop of Meath deceased by the name Rt Rev Father in God Dr. William Moreton Lord Bishop of Kildare the House, stables, garden, outhouse and other appurtenances in which Rt Rev Dr. William Moreton late Lord Bishop of Meath deceased dwelt on St Stephen’s Green near the City of Dublin bounding on the SW side by that which was the Bird Lodge (Cadge?) House and on the NE with one of Michael Scrivens’[8] houses in which a French Dean then dwelt … to hold to Rt Rev Dr. William Moreton late Lord Bishop of Meath deceased his heirs and assigns from 29 Sept then last past for 99 years … yearly rent of 40 pounds sterling payable by half-yearly payments of equal portions … and said Rt Rev Dr. William Moreton late Lord Bishop of Meath deceased, his heirs and assigns, may surrender said lease upon giving notice and afterward said Indenture of Assignment witnesseth that John Usher, William Jackson and Dame Mary Jones, in consideration of 23 pounds sterling paid to them by Edmund Schuldham make over to Edmund Schuldham his heirs and assigns by virtue of said lease … for all residue of the lease of 99 years …
