[1] George JACKSON · This is a guess, based on the fact that a George JACKSON of Antrim was a father of a James, and the dates are a fit. It wasn't a time when there were a lot of people living in Antrim. He would have been in Antrim by 1635: NOTE: The Dunlops originally came from the Scottish island of Arran and settled on the Antrim coast early in the 17th century. They received a grant of land from Sir Randall MacDonnell situated between Ballycastle and Ballintoy. To settle rights to this land in 1635 a jury was called with members being among others; Alexander Houston of Denniscan, gent., George Jackson of Antrim gent., Robert Young of Cloughmills, gent., David Moore of Ballyhome, gent., Burial place of the Dunlops was at Ramoan. Volume 8, 1860: p 200 [2] George JACKSON (1634-aft 1684) · Hunch: His father was on a jury in 1635 in Antrim, hence the guess on birthplace. · Hunch: He would be the right age for a son, James born about 1684. Again no known record of that will either. · Hunch: I am including him here as a brother of George JACKSON (1634-aft 1684). In1693, he was a Cordwainer, and a Freeman of Carrickfergus. I am basing the possible connection on coincidences of both class and geographic proximity, as well as the fact that the names George and Peter are used repeatedly in this line and not in other lines of JACKSONs who are known to live in the region in the late 1600s. · Burial: PRONI MIC583/11-12 · I don't recall the source for the birth date.
