1.  John Jackson [1]

 

 

•  NOTE: This first name is on the basis of conjecture. Email 2013 Sept 8 from Susan Williams: The unnamed Jackson (father of John (b: 1837) and William (b: 1841) may also be John although I am far from sure of this. I found a record on the Irish church genealogy website which records a Richard Jackson (perhaps a brother of John and William) of Woodfield whose father was John and who married a Jane Jackson of Clonmore, Carlow in 1864. I presume they were distant cousins, I'll have to try and dig into her background a little more.

•  NOTE: There may also have been a relation named Joseph JACKSON. In Griffiths Valuation, a Joseph and a John JACKSON both show up in Woodfield.

Second Generation (Children)

 

2.  John Jackson [2] (John ¹) was born about 1834 in Co. Wicklow, died on 24 Mar 1916 in Woodfieldglen, Co. Wicklow aged about 82, and was buried in Kiltegan Church, Co. Wicklow.

•  SOURCE: Conversation with Mura Sayers: There were 13 children in all . NOTE: I now have the names of all of them.

•  SOURCE:  Census: Wicklow.  Religion: Church of Ireland.- - as was his wife, children & grandchild.  Age: 64, born in Ireland The house was built of stone, brick or concrete, had 3 occupied rooms, 3 windows in front and had a slate roof. There was a stable, cow house, calf house, piggery, fowl house, turf house & barn.  NOTE: He owns the property as well as the property at House #3 Cowpasture, Tober, Co. Wicklow where three other Jacksons live - likely related. It would seem that his brother, William owns the adjacent property.  Just to confound us, they each have a son named William who is age 18 at the time of the census.

John married Eliza Crampton [4] Eliza was born about 1842 in Co. Wicklow and died after 1916.

•  SOURCE: 2013 Sept 8 email from Susan Williams. John Jackson ... married Elizabeth Crampton (1843 - 1919) in 1857 in Baltinglass. He is buried in Kiltegan church in Wicklow.

             6   F       ii.        Mary Anne Jackson [40] was born on 18 Sep 1864 in Baltinglass and died on 7 Oct 1956 in Saundersgrove, Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow aged 92.

They had a daughter, Elizabeth Mary Edwards who was born in Sep 1885. Mary married Henry Edwards [41]

             9   M      v.        Joseph Jackson [7] was born about 1868 in Co. Wicklow, Ireland and died on 2 Oct 1940 in Blackrock, Co. Dublin aged about 72.

  +      10   M     vi.        Samuel Jackson [8] was born on 25 May 1871 in Co. Wicklow and died on 1 Apr 1956 in Dunlavin, Co. Wicklow aged 84.

           11   M    vii.        John Jackson [16] was born on 18 Jun 1873 and died on 22 Jan 1948 in Baltinglass aged 74.

•  SOURCE: 1901 Census, NOTE: I have tentatively placed him here as a son of John JACKSON (b. 1837) & Eliza JACKSON, although he may be a son of William JACKSON (b. 1841) who lives next door to John JACKSON (b. 1841).  House #3, Cowpasture, Tober, Wicklow. Named as brother to  Anthony (b.189) and William (b 1883) . His birthdate based on census is 1876, but was 1873.

•  SOURCE: Mura Sayers. Her information was that he was born 1873 and died 22.1.1948. Some of the census ages (which has him b. 1876) may be suspect.

           12   F    viii.        Jane Jackson [9] was born on 6 May 1878 in Co. Wicklow, Ireland and died on 28 Nov 1939 in Tombeagh, Hacketstown, Co. Carlo aged 61.

•  SOURCE: 2013 Sept 8 email from Susan Williams: Jane Jackson (b 1879) was born on the 06 May 1878 and died on the 28 Nov 1939 in Tombeagh, Hacketstown, Co. Carlow. She married James Thorpe in 1908 in Baltinglass. I can find no record of any children.Jane married James Thorpe [36] .

           13   M     ix.        Anthony Jackson [15] was born on 2 Dec 1875 and died on 24 Dec 1933 in Baltinglass aged 58.

•  SOURCE: 1901 Census, NOTE: I have tentatively placed him here as a son of John JACKSON (b. 1837) & Eliza JACKSON, although he may be a son of William JACKSON (b. 1841) who lives next door to John JACKSON (b. 1841).   The house had a slate roof, and stone, brick or concrete walls and 4 rooms. A 2nd class house. There was also a stable, cow house, calf house & fowl house.  House #3, Cowpasture, Tober, Wicklow. Named as brother to John (b 1876) and William (b 1883). This would give him a tentative age of abt 1879, but it was 1875.

•  NOTE: Mura Sayers. He was an older brother of Thomas, a farmer in Kiltegan.

           14   M      x.        Thomas Jackson [10] was born on 28 Oct 1880 in Co. Wicklow and died on 13 Apr 1963 in Baltinglass aged 82.

           16   F     xii.        Alice Jackson [11] was born about Dec 1884 in Co. Wicklow, Ireland and died on 11 May 1946 in Tombeagh, Hacketstown, Co. Carlow aged about 61.

1911 Census, She is still residing with her parents and is unmarried, age 26.

2a  Richard JACKSON was born in 1839 and died on 9 Dec 1896 in Eagle Hill, Hacketstown, Co. Carlow, Ireland aged 57.

This leads to a third conjecture, that he is the same Richard JACKSON of this probate: Will Probate,

Richard JACKSON late of Eagle Hill, Hacketstown, Co Carlow farmer d 9 Dec 1896 granted at Dublin to the Rev Thomas BRYAN of Clonmore Rectory Hackettown Clergymand and John JACKSON of Crossnacole, Kiltegan, Co Wicklow farmer. Effects £253 18s.

NOTE: The dates for him, as well as his children have been added based on these conjectures.

Richard married Jane JACKSON in 1864. Jane was born about 1845 of Clonmore, Co. Carlow. They had three children: John, Benjamin and Maria.

John JACKSON was born about 1866 in Co. Carlow, Ireland.

Benjamin JACKSON was born about 1868 in Co. Carlow, Ireland.

Maria JACKSON was born about 1879 in Co. Carlow, Ireland..Maria married Unnamed BOURNE

Maria Margaret BOURNE was born about 1904.

3.  William Jackson [3] (John ¹) was born about 1841 and died on 26 Jul 1903 in Woodfield, Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow, Ireland aged about 62.

•  SOURCE:. 1901 Census, I am placing him as a brother of John JACKSON  b.1837 based on a hunch at this point. They live in adjacent properties.  He owns land at Woodfield Glen, Talbotstown, Baltinglass, West Wicklow. Just to confound us, they each have a son named William who is age 18 at the time of the census.

William married Anne [19] Anne was born about 1851 and died before 1911.

•  SOURCE: In the 1911 Census, neither parent is mentioned and two of the brothers William (now age 30) and John (now age 26) live with their sister Susan (age 23). They are all CoI and all single.

•  SOURCE: Note, She was still living with her grandparents in the 1911 Census. Although all MANGENs in Co Wicklow were Catholic, she was Church of Ireland.

10.  Samuel Jackson [8] (John ², John ¹) was born on 25 May 1871 in Co. Wicklow and died on 1 Apr 1956 in Dunlavin, Co. Wicklow aged 84.

•  SOURCE: Mura Sayers, Named as a brother of her grandfather. He was also a farmer.

•  SOURCE:1911 Census, House #1, Cowpasture, Tober, Co. Wicklow.  Samuel JACKSON age 39, wife Martha age 33; daughters Elizabeth May, age 2 & Doris Martha age 8 mo. Married 1908. All b. Co Wicklow.  He owns the land with a stable, cow house, calf house, dairy, piggery, foul house, barn & shed. His estimated birth date is 1873, but he was actually born in 1871.

•  He appeared on the census. SOURCE: 2013 Sept 8 email Susan Williams: Samuel Jackson (b: 1873) ... was born on the 25 May 1871. He died on the 01 Apr 1956 in Dunlavin, Co. Wicklow. He married my great grandmother Martha Crampton in Sep 1908.

Samuel married Martha Crampton [31] in Sep 1908. Martha was born on 25 Aug 1877 in Plezica, Dunlavin, Co. Wicklow.
