Sir Thomas JACKSON was one of the first to build and have his family live on The Peak. He bilt some time between 1877 and 1880. 1887 is the first directory of The Peak where the residents are listed separately from the main directory.
Thanks for the help from Walter Chow and Helen Swinnerton of HSBC Archives in Hong Kong.

The Peak Directory 1887
● indicates the names that
were also noted in the 1889 Directory. There is a great deal of biographical information included in that post. I am still on a steep learning curve.
W indicates the presence of
a wife in Hong Kong.
- There are 37 individuals named.
- 4 of them lived in one residence: Stonyhurst.
- 6 of the residences were vacant, and are listed at the bottom
of the table.
- This means there were 40 named residences on The Peak in
this Directory.
- 23 of the men had wives living with them, or else their wives were living in their other Hong Kong residence. The
Peak was customarily used in the summertime, and a residence nearer to the
shore for the rest of the year.
