Banns of Marriage between John JACKSON of the Parish and Anne JONES of the Parish of Agbold, in the County of Wicklow NOTE: I cannot find a parish of Agbold, Co. Wicklow, but there is a Parish Aghowle, Barony Shillelagh, Co. Wicklow. In tithes of 1825, a James JACKSON has a holding in Aghowle at Coolkenna and James and Thomas JACKSON have holdings in Aghowle at Barnacashel. 2 Aug 1807 by me Joseph JENKINS, curate 9 Aug 1807 by me R. JOHNSON, rector 12 Aug 1807 by me Joseph JENKINS, curate. NOTE: The name R. JOHNSON is not included in the names of rectors on the scroll in Creggan Church. He was likely Richard JOHNSTON. See Burke’s The General Armory of England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales: JOHNSTON (cos Armagh and Dublin, and the City of Dublin; confirmed to Rev Richard JOHNSTON, M.A. Rector of Kilmore, Diocese of Armagh, descended from William JOHNSTON who served at the siege of Londonderry, 1689, and to the other descendants of the said WILLIAM JOHNSTON). Ar a saltire sa. as betw. in chief a trefoil slipped vert, and in base a heart ensigned with an imperial crown ppr on a chief gu. Three cushions or. Crest: An arm in armour embowed, the hand grasping a sword all ppr. charged on the elbow with a spur-rowel gu. Nunquam non partus. This would mean he had Scots roots. |

In the presence of William JOHNSTON of Clough, Wexford & John JONES, Union of Ferns, Wexford. NOTE: There is a townland of Clologe, Parish Toome, Barony Scarawalsh in Co. Wexford. NOTE: It is possible that this John JACKSON was a grandson of George JACKSON & Margaret O’LAUGHLIN. Or there may be some other relationship with the other JACKSONs of the region. It is significant that the exact same record is recorded in the Glenealy Church of Ireland, Co. Wicklow. NOTE: The same record is also recorded in the Glenealy Church of Ireland, Co. Wicklow. Images of Glenealy Church. The Parish of Glenealy is in the Barony of Arklow and Newcastle. Possible clue: Richard Jackson b: Abt. 1778 in of Tullyvallen, Newtownhamilton, Co. Armagh, Ireland d: 17 Feb 1848 in at Liscalgot, Co. Armagh may be the father of John & William JACKSON. Richard JACKSON also may be the 1780 [Forename?] JACKSON b.
