Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Louth Estates.
Mr. Coburn Mr. Coburn
Mr. Coburn asked the Minister for Lands and
Fisheries to state what progress has been made by the Land Commission in
acquiring for the relief of congestion (a) the estate of the Representatives of
Mrs. Quigley[1]; (b) estate
of William Bailey[2],
lands known as Annaghvacky and Cavananore; (c) estate of Patrick
O'Rourke[3],
Cavananore and Annaghvacky, 152 acres O roods 39 perches; (d) the
estate of the Misses Dickie[4],
Annaghvacky and Clonaleenaghan; (e) estate of Rupert F. Franklin[5],
Annaghvacky and Clonaleenaghan, 233 acres O roods 12 perches; (f)
the estate of Patrick Cunningham[6]
and others, the lands of Rassan and Shanmullagh, comprising 199 acres.

Mr. Roddy: The position of the various
estates mentioned by the Deputy, [435] in respect of proceedings under the Land Act 1923, is as
follows:—
Estate of Reps. of Mrs.
Quigley.—The lands of Cavananore in this matter were purchased under
the Irish Land Act 1903, and are subject to Land Purchase Annuity, and the Land
Commission do not propose to take any action, at present, regarding their
acquisition.
Estate of William Bailey[7].—There
are no proceedings before the Land Commission for the acquisition of the lands
of Annaghvacky in this matter, but inquiry will be made regarding them.
Estate of Patrick
O'Rourke.—The price of the lands of Cavananore and Annaghvacky,
comprising 152a. Or. 39p., has been fixed and a scheme for their division will
be prepared as expeditiously as possible.
Estate of The Misses
Dickie[8].—The
Land Commission have considered the question of the acquisition of the lands of
Annaghvacky and Clonaleenaghan in this matter and have decided to
take no action at present for their acquisition.
Estate of Rupert F.
Franklin.—The lands of Annaghvacky and Clonaleenaghan, comprising
233a. Or. 17p. in this matter have recently been published in a Provisional
List of lands which, if not excluded in consequence of a valid objection will
become vested in the Land Commission on the Appointed Day.
Estate of Patrick
Cunningham and Ors.—The lands of Rassan and Shanmullagh, comprising 199a. Or.
24p. in this matter have been published in a Provisional List of lands which,
if not excluded in consequence of a valid objection, will become vested in the
Land Commission on the Appointed Day. The owner objected to their acquisition
by the Land Commission and his objection is at present pending for hearing.

Fisheries if he will state what progress has been made with the acquisition of
the lands known as the Eastwood Estate, Castletown, Dundalk, Co. Louth.
