The following email is from Alison Causten with whom I have been corresponding over the past year. I also had the good fortune to meet her at PRONI, quite by accident, when we were both doing research there in October 2003.

Is anyone researching this surname in this parish [alternate spellings include Gilmor, Gilmer, Gillmer, Gilmour, etc]? The family that I am researching resided in DruminallyDuff and Corbrackey townlands. I suspect that most of this family emigrated, and I would be interested to hear from GILMORE researchers if they find that any of the following individuals relate to their line:
- Robert, bap. 10 Aug 1805
- George, bap. 1 June 1811
- Joanna, bap. 12 Dec 1816
- William, bap. 26 Mar 1820
- Hollan (Ellen?), bap. 19 April 1807 at Church of the Ascension (CofI)
- Elizabeth, bap. 25 Dec 1813
- Margaret, bap. 26 Nov 1815
- James, bap. 10 Sep 1820
- Mary, bap. 2 July 1826
- Thomas, bap. 9 Oct 1831
- Thomas, bap. 18 Nov 1832
- Elizabeth, bap. 16 April 1837
- John, bap. 17 Dec 1839 [m. Sarah HOLLAND in 1859]
- Matthew, bap. 16 Jan 1842
- Susanna, bap. 29 Jan 1844
- twins James & Joseph, bap. 4 Feb 1847
- Margaret, bap. 27 May 1852
- Thomas, bap. 25 Dec 1836
- Moses, born 1840 [m. Rachel HARE in 1861]
- William, bap. 25 July 1841
- Elizabeth, bap. 15 Oct 1844
- Ruth, bap. 20 Feb 1850
- Mary, bap. 26 Dec 1852
- James, bap. 30 May 1858
- John, bap. 30 Mar 1863
- Thomas, bap. 15 June 1865
- William, bap. 16 July 1866
The GILMORE surname was not as numerous in this northern parish as in and around, for example, Markethill and other central parishes of the County Armagh or, especially, in the neighbouring County Down.
Nevertheless, there were other GILMORE families appearing in the Drumcree parish CofI records, and these lived at the following townlands: Ballynagowan, Breagh, Canagola [s/b Clonamola?], Derrymattry, Derryvane, Drumalis, Drumharriff, Drummenagh, Foy Beg, Kerrigane or Korrigawn?, Kingarve (possibly), Selshion, Timulkenny, Timakeel, and at Portadown.
Our GILMORE line descends from great-grandmother, Rachel Mary GILMORE [bap. 25 July 1855], of parents Moses GILMORE [1811-1883] and Mary née JONES [1814-1878] of DruminallyDuff townland. Rachel emigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1870 and married John FLAVELL, who had emigrated from Corbrackey townland in 1858.
Hope this information is of interest, eventually, to someone.
