NOTE: This chart that does not include landlords, rates and where registered (which I have in a chart which is too complex for me to load online). I have also included some but not all variant spellings included. There are also a few other names included because of their suspected relationships with McCULLAGHs. Also, some of the documents were hard to read and I may have made some errors of transcription. Cross-referencing this chart with other documents is always a good idea.

McCULLAGH mentions in PRONI Freeholders.

  1. I have footnoted the townlands the first time that they appear in this document, but not subsequently.
  2. Linda Leonard adds the following: The Lord Kilmorey ones are likely to be South Down around Kilkeel; Ballybot is in central Newry and Clohog is just on the outskirts on the Dublin Road as is Altnaveagh. Damolly is on the Belfast side of Newry Tirnascobe up runs from the main Armagh/ Portadown Road near Richhill. ... The Sinton family ... originate from Laurelvale/ Tandragee and were a very well know linen family. They also have a big meal business. Miss Richardson is likely to be of the Richardson family of Bessbrook - a Quaker family - who built Bessbrook as a Model village - major linen family in Co Armagh.
  3. It is also worth cross-referencing these names and townlands with the records that I have at  1st Armagh Presbyterian

[1] Clohog, there are townlands named Cloghoge in the Parishes of Ballymore, Creggan & Killevy. According to Linda Leonard, Clohog is on the outskirts of Newry.

[2] Barony Magheraboy, Parish

[3] Danibora?

[4] There are two Creevy townlands in Co. Down, in the parishes of Aghaderg & Drumbo..

[5] It is interesting that a John OLIVER was also paying rent at a similar time for Creevy (Oliver) in Co. Monaghan to the Shirley estate.

[6] Ternascobe aka Tirrnascobe, Parish of Armagh, Co. Armagh.

[7] Mullaglas aka Mullaghglass, Parishes of Ballymore & Killevy.

[8] Kilcreavy Ota, Parish of Derrynoose, Co. Armagh

[9] Drumaknockan is in the Parish of Dromore, Co. Down.

[10] Drumlellum, Parish of Drumcree, Co. Armagh.

[11] Timmakeel, Parish of Drumcree, Co. Armagh.

[12] Possibly Derrydorragh, Parish of Eglish, Co. Armagh.

[13] Carnavanaghan, Parish of Kilclooney, Co. Armagh.

[14] Cladybeg, Parish of Kilclooney, Co. Armagh.

[15] Drumgar. This is possibly Drumalargh, Parish of Kilclooney, Co. Armagh.

[16] Damuly – most likely Damoily, Parish of Kilclooney, Co. Armagh.

[17] Glassdrummond,. There is one in each of the Parishes of Tynan, Killevy & Kilclooney, Co. Armagh. Given the clustering of other townlands associated with McCULLAGH in Kilclooney, it is the most likely.

[18] Lislea. Just to confound – there are 3 Lislea townlands: Parish of Derrynoose, Parish of Lisnadill & Parish of Killevey. I would need to check the Charlemount records further to see which ones would be under his ownership.

[19] Lismagatt – in all likelihood, this is Lisnagat, Parish of Kilclooney, Co. Armagh.

[20] Lower Brackley – probably Parish of Kilclooney, although there is also a Brackley in the Parish of Keady. We need to check the Gosford Estates.

[21] Rockmaceany, Parish of Kilclooney, Co. Armagh.

[22] Ballybot?

[23] Markethill, Parish of Mullaghbrack & Kilclooney.

[24] Tullyallen, Parish of Loughilly, Co. Armagh. SEE: 1766 June 10 DEED: 261-610-175298 where Alexander McCULLAGH of Tullyallen received 35 acres of Tullyallen from his father William McCULLAGH. Alexander’s son was a John McCULLAGH. NOTE: Loughgilly is just to the east of Kilclooney Parish where there was also a clustering of McCULLAGHs.

[25] Coolmolish aka Coolmilish, Parish of Mullaghbrack, Co. Armagh.

[26] Aughayallog, Aghayalloge , Parish of Killevey, Co. Armagh, Upper Orier

[27] Lett? Lett?. Thanks to Linda Leonard, I now know that there is a place called Latt, just north of Newry. This would be the townland of Latt, 306 acres in the Parish of Killevy, Co. Armagh.

[28] Richhill, Parish of Kilmore, Co. Armagh

[29] A William McCULLAGH is recorded as having a daughter, Anne Jane in 1801. 1st Armagh Presbyterian Records.

[30] Altaturk, Parish of Loughgall, Co. Armagh.

[31] Rathdrumgranagh, Rathdrumgran, Parish of Loughgall, Co. Armagh.

[32] Probably Altaturk, Parish of Loughgall, Co. Armagh

[33] Tullyallen, Parish of Loughgilly, Co. Armagh

[34] Tullywinney, Parish of Loughgilly, Co. Armagh

[35] Althaveagh aka Altnaveigh, Parish of Newry, Co. Armagh.

[36] Breaghey, Parish of Tynan, CO. Armagh
